American Cockroachs:    Are the largest species of common cockroach. The insect is believed to have originated in Africa, but had become established in the southern U.S. by the time that it was given its name.  American cockroach adults are 1 and 1/2 inches long. They are reddish brown and have a yellowish margin on the body region behind the head. Immature cockroaches resemble adults except that they are wingless.

German cockroach   Is found throughout the world in association with humans. They are unable to . Survive in locations away from humans or human activity. The major factor limiting German cockroach survival appears to be cold temperatures. Studies have shown that German cockroaches were unable to colonize inactive ships during cool temperatures and could not survive in homes without central heating in northern climates. And availability of water, food.


 

Smokey brown cockroach Is a relative of the American cockroach and resembles it in shape and size.  Their very dark mahogany color is striking; no light markings appear or wings. Nymphs like adults are also dark brown.



Oriental cockroach
is a large species of cockroach, measuring about 1 inch in length at maturity. It is dark brown to black in color and has a glossy body. The Oriental cockroach tends to travel somewhat more slowly than other species. They are often called water bugs since they prefer dark, moist places. They can often be found around decaying organic matter, and in sewers, drains, damp basements, porches, and other damp locations. They can be found outside in bushes, under leaf groundcover, under mulch, and around other damp places outdoors.
